..his victory is a defense of Democracy

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Part, PDP and Chief of Staff to Delta State Governor, Olorogun David Edevbie has congratulated Gov Ifeanyi Okowa over his victory at the governorship election Tribunal.
Reacting to the judgment, Edevbie, the immediate past Commissioner of Finance in the state said, “The tribunal verdict was a resounding judicial vindication of Governor Okowa’s personal character and his electoral victory.
“The rule of law has came to the defense of democracy by affirming the sovereign will of the people who expressed will to come out and vote for the PDP during the March 9 election.
“Whatever partisan side one might take, all must agree that today was a bright day for the administration of justice.
“I was proud to see both sides of this dispute behave with utmost civility and decorum despite the weight of the matters at stake and the intensity of the legal arguments presented.
“And it is in this spirit that we must always seek to resolve even our most stubborn differences that we may emerge a stronger yet more peaceful state.
“The All Progressive Congress Governorship candidate, Chief Great Ogboru and his legal team put forth some imaginative arguments as their right. And the tribunal affirmed that the election was free and fair and the final result should stand.
“Most importantly, the Court found that the election was properly conducted and that Governor Okowa won by the wide margin counted as recorded by INEC.
“The APC candidate was given the chance to prove his case but at the end did not produce the requisite evidence.
This failure was not from lack of trying; but was because such evidence simply does not exist. Governor Okowa won the election openly and honestly.
“I congratulate Governor Okowa for this resounding judicial vindication of his personal character and of his electoral victory.
“I know the governor as a magnanimous person who will extend his hand of friendship to APC in the spirit of reconciliation and progress.
“We may disagree and argue as brothers but never as enemies who cannot resolve whatever difference that has come between us.” Olorogun Edevbie said.
